Backup Exclusions

Backup Exclusions allow you to create rules to control your backup content. Through this new self-service feature, you can select the items you wish to exclude from your backups and have one simple view of everything that is excluded per item with a clear audit trail.

Any previously created exclusion rules are automatically imported to the new view but will not include the when, why, and by who the exclusion rules were created. Once an exclusion rule is created, the selection will not be included in future backups. You may always manage exclusions back at a future time.

By default, any new Salesforce services in the application exclude Knowledge Base Articles and Custom Big Objects and can be enabled on as needed basis.

History, Share, and Feed Objects are excluded by default as customers find these objects are not typically needed for a Restore operation and are not deemed critical by the business.

    • History Tables: Not restorable (read-only) and are often huge.
    • Share Tables: By default, during Salesforce setup, are automatically created during a Restore, unless they have manual share rules.
    • Feed Tables: Captured by the application in FeedItem, FeedItem objects are automatically restored to the individual object by the application, meaning the individual object Feeds is a duplication.
