Getting a Service ID-Backup ID Pair to Use for the Seeding Source

For purposes of executing a seeding job, whether by manual execution or by scheduled execution, the Seeding application offers you the following options from which to retrieve the data to seed into a template’s Destination.

    • The Live service of the template’s source - a production org or a sandbox in Salesforce. This is the default choice.
    • A recent backup of the template's source.
    • Any backup of any service - a backup of a service in any status, regardless of the service's status and/or the Salesforce org's status.

If you want the application to retrieve the data to seed from Any backup of any service, you need to obtain both the ID of the specific service and the ID of the specific backup of that service, which you want for the seeding job.

To get the desired backup (backup ID) of a selected service (service ID):

    1. At the top of the Own UI, click on the Backuptab. The page that opens displays (in either cards view or list view) an information overview about each of your organization’s services.

    1. In the page, click on a service whose backups you want to consider using as the seeding source. You can choose a service of any status, regardless of the service's status and/or the Salesforce org's status. The service’s Latest Backup dashboard page opens.

    1. In the navigation panel (left side of page), click on Backup History. The Backups page opens listing all backups.

    1. Scroll/page through the provided list and find the specific backup that you want to consider using as the seeding source. Backups are listed according to their Started At <date><time>.

    1. Click on the backup that you are considering. The page that opens provides detailed information about this backup. By default, the page’s heading is Backup from<date><time>.

    1. In the page, do the following:

    a. Review the sObject column entries to verify that this backup contains all the objects that you want included in the seeding job.

    b. Click on the page's heading to edit it. Enter a meaningful description/label for easy identification of this backup (a best practice).

    1. From the page’s URL field, copy and save the following number sequences:

    a. The number sequence that immediately follows the word services in the URL path (the service ID).

    b. The number sequence that immediately follows the word backups in the URL path (the backup ID).

For example, from the URL in the above image https://app1.owndata.com/services/26290/backups/23776757,
copy the number sequence 26290 to use as the service ID and copy the number sequence 23776757 to use as the backup ID.

    1. When you are in the process of either manually executing a seeding job or scheduling a seeding job, do the following in the Advanced tab:

    a. Select Any backup of any serviceas the Seeding Source option.

    b. Enter/paste each ID number, which you previously copied and saved in step 7, into its respective field - Service ID, Backup ID.
